About Summit 2022
It's been over two years since the last time People for the American Way or any of its leadership networks have hosted an in-person gathering to discuss and plan the future of our progressive movement -- and the stakes are now higher than they've ever been.
In the years since we met for YEO Convening in 2019, the world was ravaged by a global pandemic; we took to the streets in response to the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless other Black Americans; and we went to the polls, defended the nation against insurrection, and are fighting against an unprecedented assault on the right to vote.
Summit 2022 will bring us together to talk about the essential progress we must make against suppression, obstruction, and disinformation from the Far Right.
A New Format for this New Moment
Coalitions are key. For the first time in years, we're excited to bring the diverse voices across our coalitions together.
Our 2022 Summit will be different than any gathering we've had, bringing together members of our Young Elected Officials (YEO) Network, African American Minister Leadership Conference (AAMLC), progressive organizers, partners, experts, scholars, and others critical to this work to discuss the predominant issues threatening our communities and our democracy.
Summit will be both a gathering for our nation's most dynamic progressive leaders to learn, develop, and network and a celebration of the groundbreaking work People for the American Way, our networks, and our members have led to build a pipeline of progressive leadership and make our nation freer and fairer for all of us.
Summit in Downtown Atlanta
Atlanta, the State of Georgia, and the Deep South are in so many ways on the front lines of the progressive movement and is the perfect and essential backdrop for our 2022 Summit
Our 2022 Summit activities will be held in and around our host hotel, the W Downtown, "an urban oasis that captures the vital energy of the city" and a beautiful venue for such a cherished celebration . We'll be a short distance from Atlanta attractions like Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Georgia Aquarium and Centennial Olympic Park.

Application Opens. Applicants are notified on a rolling basis until applicant slots are confirmed and filled.
April 22, 2022
Application Closes. Notifications for accepted applicants will conclude on or before April 29th
May 10, 2022
Deadline for all accepted Summit 2022 attendees to confirm attendance and submit payment for Summit registration. Unclaimed slots may be offered to other applicants after this date.
June 16, 2022
