Robin Trumble

Alderman, Ithaca Common Council, NY

Trumble Headshot.jpg

Robin Trumble is a young elected official based in Ithaca, New York, where he currently serves on the Ithaca Common Council after beginning a four-year term in January 2026. Originally from Monterey, California, Robin finished high school in Ithaca before attending the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse. He went on to spend several years as an organizer with People For the American Way, sharpening his skills at the intersection of grassroots advocacy and public policy.

Spurred into deeper civic engagement following the murder of George Floyd, Robin turned passion into pragmatic change—championing forward-thinking local initiatives like Ithaca’s Unarmed Responder Program and pushing for people-centered approaches to public safety. Most recently, he introduced a resolution calling for the City of Ithaca to terminate its relationship with Flock Safety Inc., citing deep concerns about surveillance, ICE incursions, and the misuse of local data by a hostile federal administration—grounding the fight squarely in the protection of marginalized and immigrant communities.

Outside City Hall, Robin is a people-person first: helping with cellar work and event planning at Personal Best Brewing, jumping behind the bar when needed, and building community wherever he goes. He believes local government works best when it’s bold, accountable, and rooted in care for the people it serves.
