Josie Caballero is a proud Latina trans woman and the Director of Voting and Elections at Advocates for Trans Equality (A4TE). With six years of service in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear reactor operator and over a decade of political campaign experience, she brings a powerful combination of discipline, strategic vision, and advocacy. She currently serves as the policy committee chair on the Maryland Commission for LGBTQ+ Affairs, vice president of the Transgender American Veterans Association, and a founding member of the DNC Trans Advisory Committee. At A4TE, Josie leads national initiatives like Transform the Vote, advancing trans voter engagement, and built the nation’s first candidate training program tailored exclusively for trans leaders. She also played a pivotal role as the Director of the 2022 U.S. Trans Survey, securing nearly 100,000 trans respondents. Her leadership exemplifies the intersection of grassroots organizing and national policy influence, making her a vital voice in the movement for trans equity and democracy.
