Isadore Hall
“Why I ran for office” by Isadore Hall
State Representative, California
I ran for office at such a young age because I was witnessing a national drought in how young adults were being included in policy-making decisions. Education, affordable health care, economic and housing development, social services and many other policy decisions were approved, but there was no one at the table to represent my generation.
I saw a need for change– a change that would bring an out-of-the-box perspective to accomplishing goals and restoring confidence and hope to a hopeless society.
Lives are being changed and hope restored. Progress is on the horizon. However, I still have a long way to go. The experience has been great but not without challenges. Our community was deprived for so long. The social culture had to change and could only happen once trust was restored.
We are honored to have community support and high commitment to stand with their elected officials when hard decisions are being made.
